AUGUST 08 - PROTEIN SMOOTHIE

Whey protein is from the whey portion of dairy. In a good quality whey protein powder, in order to improve the overall protein profile, the removal of the majority of the milk sugars and milk fat is required.

Whey proteins have substantial benefits as they provide a balanced source of essential amino acids.  This promotes lean muscle gain, while repairing and regenerating lean muscle mass. This protein is high in glutathione which is involved in antioxidant status, immunity and detoxification. It is less allergenic then casein, soy or egg proteins.

This type of whey protein is easily digested, it is readily absorbed. It provides a feeling of fullness,  helps to balance blood sugar levels, is beneficial for the gastro-intestinal tract, helps to support muscle integrity and helps with athletic performance and body composition.

Use these great quality protein powders:

  • As meal replacement

  • To promote fat loss while sparing lean muscle mass

  • To increase dietary protein

  • Or as a hypoallergenic protein source during elimination/detoxification programs.

·      N.B.: I have seen the best results with Medipro protein powder (contains an added multivitamin mineral supplement) through the years, so this is the powder I have chosen to use for this smoothie recipe, but if you have found one that works for you that has no added sugars or artificial sweeteners, and one which makes you feel good after eating, then continue with that one.
