What Is Naturopathic Medicine

What is Naturopathic Medicine?

As a distinct health care profession, Naturopathy, or “nature cure,” is almost 100 years old. It’s roots go back through medical history to the healing wisdom of many cultures and times.

Today, the term Naturopathic Medicine defines an alternative approach to health care; one that merges the ancient world of traditional healing methods together with the modern world of scientific medical knowledge. Naturopathic care can be complimentary and integrated with conventional medicine.

Using natural substances and treatments that act in harmony with the body’s self-healing ability, a Naturopathic Doctor will work on several levels – physiological, structural, psychological, social, spiritual, and environmental – recognizing that these aspects of health are intricately and inseparably related.

This individualized approach to health is a rewarding journey of self exploration that requires the joint effort of both doctor and patient. Patients are empowered to take responsibility for their own health while receiving treatment and guidance from their Naturopathic Doctor along the way.
