our relationship with ourselves, others and nature. She
delights in being able to turn people on to the simplicity
and wisdom of these healing gifts.

with a varied clientele she has particular interest and success
in working with clients who experience depression,
fibromyalgia, chronic headaches, migraines, sciatica, carpal
tunnel and prenatal difficulties.

What is Acupressure?
"Acupressure" refers
to any technique using finger pressure on "acu-points" to reduce
stress and balance one’s Qi (Chi). This energy (Qi) flows
through our body in 12 main channels like an interconnected
system of rivers called meridians. When this energy flows
smoothly we feel balanced and healthy. When points become
blocked, we experience pain, sickness and/or emotional distress.
The release of these points alleviates our discomfort and
stimulates the immune system. An "acupressure" method may be
simple and symptomatic, or sophisticated and deeply therapeutic.
What is Jin Shin Do®?
Jin Shin Do® is “The Way of the Compassionate Spirit”
Jin Shin Do® Bodymind Acupressure® uses gentle yet deep finger pressure on specific acu-points
together with Body Focusing techniques to help release armoring
or chronic tension, and balance the Qi or energy. This bodymind
approach is a unique synthesis of a traditional Japanese
acupressure, classical Chinese acupuncture theory, Reichian
segmental theory, Taoist philosophy, Qigong Exercises and
western psychotherapy.
Jin Shin Do® promotes a pleasant trancelike state, in which one can move out
of the head and into the body, accessing feelings and inner
wisdom.
Jin Shin Do® is the only acupressure method that works consistently with the
“Strange Flows” or “Extraordinary Meridians”. Opening and
working with the Extraordinary Meridians subtly rebalances the
energy flows between all of the Meridians. Jin Shin Do® brings about pleasurable, deep relaxation and increased
awareness of both body and psyche. It helps one learn to
transform, rather than repress, painful feelings - leading to a
more joyful way of life and the realization of one's full
potential.
What is a session
like?
During all sessions the client is
clothed and lies on their back on a massage table while the
practitioner holds combinations of acu-points throughout the
session. The practitioner evaluates the tension pattern through
point palpation and pulse reading, and then holds successive
"local points" in tense or painful areas together with related
"distal points," which help the tension to release more easily,
deeply and pleasantly. Points can be held from one to three
minutes. The client is invited to communicate, to breathe and to
be in still awareness of their own unique physical and emotional
sensations throughout the session. This process is a
cooperative bodymind experience between the practitioner, client
and the universal Qi. Our
attitudes and thinking create body postures and muscular tension
patterns; body aches and pains influence the way we think and
feel. A Jin Shin Do® session is a safe and powerful way you can explore body tensions
and or emotional stresses to make positive changes in your life.
Who can benefit from
JSD® Acupressure?
JSD®Acupressure can benefit just about everyone. At its’ core Jin Shin Do® allows us to feel our true, fully expressed selves without
judgment. "Nagging" pain, "controlled" tension, "pent-up"
frustration, "repressed" emotions - we may spend so much time
resisting "negative" feelings that we become afraid of feeling
at all.
Jin Shin Do® allows us to feel!
During a session any
variety of physical symptoms may be treated, including headache,
back pain, neck and shoulder pain, arthritis, digestive
imbalances, gynecological problems and muscle tensions. As
well, emotional stresses may be explored, such as anxiety, low
self-esteem, depression, post-traumatic stress, grief, pent up
anger or frustration.
Our
attitudes and thinking create body postures and muscular tension
patterns; body aches and pains influence the way we think and
feel. A Jin Shin Do® session can release both mental and physical stresses and
tensions.
